Sixty-one commits of the aesthetic cold start, held on one branch because the
score is the only judge and it only moves for whole rounds.

What moved the score:

  • Course and the second scale: the page stopped spending 800px of type space
it never earned, and display type got a knob orthogonal to reading type.
  • @perish/sign and the Sign generator: the interface gained an entire class
of element it did not have. Four sets each hit a different assumption — base
draws, material fills, terminal spends its own characters, ant carries a
second tone — and none of them needed a new atom.
  • text-wrap: balance and pretty: whole-page widows four to zero, and a law
in wrap.test.ts that keeps them there.

What did not move it, and is kept anyway because it is correctness:
base measured against its own probe set (--heft 400 against a peer median of
500–800, ink/ground 9.5 against 15.4), optical normalisation, the palette
recut, region gap ownership, the first-screen rule.

Structure the polish forced out: Bay/Skin as the seam CSS does not have,
the space ruler that type already had, the region owning the gaps between its
members, and a cascade that carries a fact outside itself for the first time so
a symbol set can be chosen by system rather than by look.

Law and record: rubric/front.toml holds the forward half, LEDGER.md holds
the evidence, and look.json records density per language. Three laws retired
or rewritten on evidence — specimens-differ scored backwards against the eye
and is gone.

Guard is green by exit code across check, typecheck, test, build,
ectropy ., plumb doctor ., and design-docs look; the look baseline is
unchanged by this landing.

Sixty-one commits of the aesthetic cold start, held on one branch because the score is the only judge and it only moves for whole rounds. What moved the score: - `Course` and the second scale: the page stopped spending 800px of type space it never earned, and display type got a knob orthogonal to reading type. - `@perish/sign` and the `Sign` generator: the interface gained an entire class of element it did not have. Four sets each hit a different assumption — base draws, material fills, terminal spends its own characters, ant carries a second tone — and none of them needed a new atom. - `text-wrap: balance` and `pretty`: whole-page widows four to zero, and a law in `wrap.test.ts` that keeps them there. What did not move it, and is kept anyway because it is correctness: base measured against its own probe set (`--heft` 400 against a peer median of 500–800, ink/ground 9.5 against 15.4), optical normalisation, the palette recut, region gap ownership, the first-screen rule. Structure the polish forced out: `Bay`/`Skin` as the seam CSS does not have, the space ruler that type already had, the region owning the gaps between its members, and a cascade that carries a fact outside itself for the first time so a symbol set can be chosen by system rather than by look. Law and record: `rubric/front.toml` holds the forward half, `LEDGER.md` holds the evidence, and `look.json` records density per language.
