Deleting a branch is permanent. Although the deleted branch may continue to exist for a short time before it actually gets removed, it CANNOT be undone in most cases. Continue?
guard: accept --fresh as a no-op
The release lane invokes the guard with --fresh; this guard holds no
cache, so it accepts the flag and ignores it for parity.
